The Boat Assisted Kayak Eco Tour is our most unique and adventurous offering โ and consistently one of our most popular. It combines three different modes of exploration in a single 3.5-hour experience: power boat travel to remote locations, sea kayaking through pristine mangrove tunnels, and walking on untouched barrier island beaches.
The 'boat assisted' concept means we use the power boat to get you deep into areas of the 10,000 Islands that would take hours to reach by kayak alone. Once at the destination, you switch to kayaks for an intimate, up-close exploration of the mangrove ecosystem โ one of the most productive and ecologically important habitats on the planet.
This tour is suitable for all kayak experience levels. Our Master Naturalist guides provide instruction before launch and accompany you throughout. Life jackets and kayaks are provided. Children as young as 5 or 6 can participate alongside adults.
Wildlife encounters on this tour are extraordinary precisely because the kayaks allow you to enter areas the power boat cannot โ winding mangrove tunnels where manatees rest, shallow flats teeming with marine life, and quiet coves where dolphins hunt.
The 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most biodiverse coastal ecosystems in North America. Here is what guests consistently encounter:
